Intellectual dishonesty

Intellectual dishonesty by Mr. Andrews Obeng Amankwah forwarded by Amankwah Richmond  Yaw why is it that people who are educated, more especially in Africa do not acknowledge what they are been taught? When such people occupy position, they begin to mismanage and involve in other vices?  Well I think that will be intellectual dishonesty. Intellectual dishonesty is where one does not appreciate what he or she is taught in cause of pursuing academia. Hence they are found involve in the same things the academic system speaks against. But Yaw, almost all the people who occupy these positions have lived in Europe. Most of them are even educated here. Why then can’t they put the mechanisms that are helping the Europeans in place? Well Dad, let me give this scenario; A guy completes university three years ago, he does not have   a job, no security, no better living, friends who did not chose formal education are making it. What do you think will happen...

Steve Jobs' Last Words:

Steve Jobs’ Last Words: I reached the pinnacle of success in the business world. In others’ eyes, my life is an epitome of success. However, aside from work, I have little joy. In the end, wealth is only a fact of life that I am accustomed to. At this moment, lying on the sick bed and recalling my whole life, I realize that all the recognition and wealth that I took so much pride in, have paled and become meaningless in the face of impending death. In the darkness, I look at the green lights from the life supporting machines and hear the humming mechanical sounds, I can feel the breath of god of death drawing closer… Now I know, when we have accumulated sufficient wealth to last our lifetime, we should pursue other matters that are unrelated to wealth… Should be something that is more important: Perhaps relationships, perhaps art, perhaps a dream from younger days ... Non-stop pursuing of wealth will only turn a person into a twisted being, just like me. God ...

Question to Dr Mo Ibrahim

Question to Dr Mo Ibrahim Last night on Joy Fm at the program of John A Kuffour foundation in Legon, Dr you made a statement and it wet my appetite. I quote ‘’ Agricultural must be sexy’’. 2% Of African college students study agriculture and 60% rely on agriculture. I will like to ask, how are you making it attractive for college students as is been done for students who are interested in governance and leadership, and business administration? Will like to end here. Suggestions and my taught will follow on getting an answer. Thank you sir.

The Heart of the Book of Jonah

The Heart of the Book of Jonah Jonah is a book about obedience, illustrating how foolish it is to refuse to obey God or to try to flee from God and his calling. Jonah is also a book about compassion and concern for one’s enemies or for those who are merely different. God had compassion on the Assyrians in Nineveh, and he rebukes Jonah for his lack of concern over their salvation. Jonah is also a book that underscores how serious and unthinkable it was for the Israelites back in Jerusalem to ignore the prophetic call to repent and return to God. The repentant actions of the Assyrians in Nineveh, from the king down to the lowest peasant (and even the cows!), lead to their deliverance, in contrast to the obstinate, hostile, and unrepentant attitude of the kings and people back in Israel and Judah, which results in foreign invasion   REF:  The Baker Illustrated Bible Handbook - Old Testament

Applying the book of Amos to Our Lives Today

So What? Applying the book of Amos to Our Lives Today The book of Amos is unrelenting in its challenge to us and all other readers regarding our concern for the poor and those who suffer. Throughout the book, God repeatedly reveals his heart in this matter. God is indignant and impatient with those who enjoy living in luxury while the poor all around them suffer in poverty. The truth that emerges for us is startling: God is very concerned for the poor and suffering, and he expects his people to have the same compassion. He desires his people to work hard to alleviate the suffering of others. He gets particularly upset with us when we separate ourselves from the plight of the poor and simply focus on enjoying our high standard of living.  Likewise, if we disregard the suffering of others, God views our worship of him as hypocritical, and it does not please him. Many times we as Christians state our goal in life is to “know God.” The book of Amos helps us with this goal,...

Nature of the book of Hosea

Nature of the book of Hosea God’s Enduring Love of His People God tells Hosea to marry a harlot Hosea obediently complies and marries a harlot. Soon, to no one’s surprise, Hosea’s wife abandons him to become a harlot again, only to eventually end up in slavery.  Now the real shocker comes! God tells Hosea to buy her back, love her, and take her back as his wife, thus illustrating in his life the love and forgiveness that God has for his people, even after they have sinned against him. What a story! What a God we have!

The Issue of oral sex and the church

What do you think about this  statement  ? Outspoken Presiding Bishop of Lighthouse Chapel International, Dag Heward- Mills says there is nothing wrong with oral sex. According to him, there is no law which debars men from kissing any part of their partners’ body. ‘I don’t think there is anything wrong with oral sex because there is no red flag on any part of the body. Which law [states] that this place is not good; you can kiss here, but you cannot lick here because kissing is licking” he stressed. Bishop Heward-Mills, who was addressing church members, could not fathom why couples restrict areas they touch during foreplay when in fact other places can also contribute to making the sex more enjoyable. “Why can’t you not kiss your wives vulva and why can’t your wife also kiss your penis; why can’t she hold it? It’s nice” he stressed. The Lighthouse Presiding Bishop blamed the bad sexual lifestyle especially among Christians on religious restrictions. “Al...

THERE IS GOLD IN YOU!

THERE IS GOLD IN YOU! Gold in its unrefined state looks undesirable and is not useful to anyone for any purpose. But when gold is passed through the hottest fire, it's melted, the impurities become separated and the finished product is pure gold. Highly sought after and enriches anyone who owns it... The reason why you seem to be getting a lot of heat from all sorts of trials and tribulations of life is because you have gold in you, and to make you fit for The Lord's purpose, you need to be passed through the refiner's fire. So don't give up hope, know that there is an end and a purpose to all things. When you become pure gold, you become desirable by all, a priceless Jewel to be cherished and saved for the best occasions. Be encouraged and keep your chin up. God knows and loves you through it all … this too shall pass.

To the women, wives and potential wives

What A Father Told His Daughter A Day Before Her Wedding My Daughter, tomorrow you will stop bearing my name. You will be happily married to the man you love. Dont miss me because I have fulfilled my purpose, it is now time for you to start fulfilling yours. From your childhood, I have raised you well by the grace of God but before you say I do, there are few things I need to tell you about living with a man and being married. Do you remember when you wrote your WAEC and BECE exams? You came to me and I gave you 1000 cedis for the registration? Well, even though I gave it to you, the money was not mine. I know you always thought I paid the fees. The truth is, I was broke… but your mother gave me the money. She could have given it to you but she decided to give it to me to give to you. Support your husband. Some times things will get tough… he will be frustrated. Even though he acts tough, in his mind he has fears… he fear you may not value him anymore because he has fall...
