THE ALPHABET OF A GREAT LIFE

THE ALPHABET OF A GREAT LIFE

There is a code for the great life and we can find it in the alphabet for a great life. So, here now is the alphabet for a great life. Master this alphabet and your life will be great. Here we go:
A – Attitude. If your attitude is right, life can throw anything at you and you will still come on top. Attitude is everything. The good news is that we get to choose our attitude to anything. An old lady was being checked into a nursing home. When she was told her room number, she said, “I love it.”
Her children said, “Mom, you have not seen the room yet so how can you say you love it?”
She said, “I have chosen to love it.”
What matters most in life is your attitude. If you lose control over everything, please don’t lose control over your attitude. And always ensure that it is a positive one.
B - Businesslike. It is sad how many of us life lives haphazardly. Life is serious business and you have to be businesslike in your approach to everything. So, be organized and be focused on a daily basis and you will soon find that you have made the most of your life and you have not wasted your opportunities and your potential.
C - Courage. Joshua takes over from Moses and God comes to speak to him. God assures him that he will be with him as he was with Moses and then God says, only be strong and courageous. What God is saying that if we are not strong and courageous in life, it doesn’t matter the blessings he pours on us, we will fail. Without courage, you are finished because not even God can help the person who lacks courage.
D – Delight. Take delight in your life, your work, in your relationships and in your accomplishments; be delighted by the accomplishment of others and be delightful in your work and in your relationship and in your performance.
E - Eloquence. Learn to put words together for effect. The ability to use words for effect is key to getting results in life. How do you get people to do what they need to do? Use the right words in the right way at the right time and that is what eloquence is all about. It is a learned skill. Make every effort to master eloquence.
F – Faithfulness. Faithfulness is the quality that makes us deserving of trust. That comes from keeping our promises and doing what we are supposed to do. It calls for loyalty; steadfastness but it also calls for dedication and devotion. It is interesting that the bible says it is expect of a servant that he be found faithful. At the end of the day, it does not matter what you have accomplished; what matters is, were you faithful? Could you be trusted and depended upon?
G - Gratitude. Practice gratitude. Whenever you feel like complaining, look for something you can be grateful for and soon, your life will be full of things to be grateful for. You see, whatever your mind dwells on, you get more of it. Are you grateful that you are alive today? If no, you have just wasted the morning.
H - Humour. I believe that the ability to see humor in every situation is a priceless gift and we all need to cultivate that. There is nothing to be gained by being gloomy or stressed out. Always look at the brighter and the lighter side. It will save you huge amounts of money in hospital bills.
I – Imagination. Albert Einstein said, “Logic will get you from A to B. Imagination will take you everywhere.” Albert Einstein also said, “The true sign of intelligence is not knowledge but imagination.” How good are you at imagination? Without imagination, the ability to perceive possibilities beyond your current circumstances, you are an eagle reduced to living like a chicken.
J - Just. Being just connote fairness and uprightness and these are priceless qualities in life. Be just in your dealings with people be they ahead of you or below you.
K – Knowledge. The bible says, for lack of knowledge, the people perish. Knowledge is power and if you are not thirsty for knowledge, you will end up someone’s slave.
L - Love. One of the discoveries every human being makes by the end of his life is that the only reason we were put here on earth was to love one another. If we fail in that we have failed in life.
M - Miracles. Albert Einstein said, “There are two ways of living your life: one as if everything is a miracle and two as if nothing is a miracle.” Those who live as if nothing is a miracle are dead. Look around you. We are surrounded by miracles and if only we allow ourselves to see them, they will inspire us every day to take on the odds. Miracles still happen. Expect them. Miracles are all around us; look out for them.
N – Name. Make a name for yourself. Be noted for something. Let your life be celebrated because of the name you made for yourself and for your generation.
O - Obedience. The bible says, “Obedience is better than sacrifice.” Be obedient to your inner voice; be obedient to your principles; be obedient to your God; be obedient to your calling.
P - Present. Always live in the present. Too many people live in the past. Their reward is regret or irrelevance. Others live in the future. Worry and anxiety are their lot. If you don’t learn to live in the present, you will find that the years will pass and you will not know what you have done with them.
Q - Question. In life it pays to learn to ask the right questions. The right questions can open doors and reveal things that would otherwise have been hidden from you. And learn to question even your assumptions about life.
R - Reading. How many books or even articles have you read from January to date? If you are literate and you don’t read for pleasure and for general information, then you have reduced the value of your literacy. It is sad that many people don’t make the time to read.
S – Service. One of the differences between wealthy economies and poor economies is the attitude to service. In wealthy economies, people see service as a privilege and a pleasure. In poor economies, people see service as demeaning. Those who love to serve and know how to serve with enthusiasm always find their way to the top.
T – Think. IBM as a brand had a slogan that simply said: think. Use your brains. Take time to think, to plan, to organize your thoughts and your activities before you jump into action. Learn to think. Make time to think.
U - Undaunted. Those who live great lives are undaunted. They are not easily discouraged or put off. They take on the odds and keep going until they win. That is the undaunted spirit and that is the winner’s code.
W – Wisdom. I cannot spell W in any other way apart from W for Wisdom. In Proverbs 8, wisdom makes her pitch to mankind. She explains what she has to offer and I will advise you to go and read that chapter (Proverbs 8) over and over until it sticks in your mind.
X - Xerophilous. The word xerophilous is used to describe plants that thrive in conditions with as little moisture as possible. I use it to refer to a person who can adapt and thrive in any condition. Those who have the ability to adapt to even hostile circumstances always come out on top because bad times always pass. The question is surviving them knowing that they will eventually pass.
Y - Youthfulness. Age is but a number. Those who enjoy a great life know how to stay youthful no matter how long they live.
Z – Zest. The ability to embrace life with a zest, with enthusiasm and eagerness is to be coveted by all of us. It is a great thing to wake up every morning ready to enjoy the day and eager to get on with the business of living.
So there you have them, the alphabet for a great life. In the alphabet is the code that will enable all of us to live great lives.
